Val's View: What to wear to Siesta Key? A capri!

Posted on 27 February 2015

Did you know that TripAdvisor just named Siesta Beach in Siesta Key the best beach in the United States? When I found this out, I said to my hubby, "Marv: We must go! And before we do, I must go to Anthony's to get some great new capri pants from Anthony's resort wear for women collection."

The sand on Siesta Key's Siesta Beach is white, pure quartz crystal -- and there's so much of it! The white sand stretches out forever -- it's as wide as the parking lot of a huge mall, and wider than any of the beaches on Florida's east coast.

Marv and I headed to Siesta Key on a blustery March day. The length of a capri -- hitting just at the lower calf -- is perfect for beach-combing in winter, when pants would drag in the sand and shorts would be too chilly.

When it comes to capri pants, Anthony's is the Siesta Key of style; it's simply the best for women's fashion. And the Anthony's Resort Wear collection features my favorite capris in a miracle fabric called "Bengaline" -- it stretches but still looks tailored. I have capris in several colors, and I pair them with printed tops in aqua and lime.

I wore my turtle-print top and white capris to stroll the white sand of Siesta Beach. The stretch in the pants made it easy to stoop down and scoop up shells.

Then Marv and I drove over to the Lobster Pot in Siesta Key Village for some great seafood. My outfit turned more than a few heads.

Now I'm waiting for TripAdvisor to vote me America's best-dressed beach tourist!

Val's tip of the week: If you haven't strolled Siesta Beach on Siesta Key, this is your year to do it! Siesta Key is just west of Sarasota. In season, average hotel rates are around $200...and there are a lot of condos for rent, too. There's an Anthony's women's fashion store just south of Sarasota in Nokomis.
