Fall is a mood, not a temperature
Fall in Florida looks a little different. The days are still warm, the palms are still green, and our sandals aren't going anywhere quite yet. But we still feel the shift. Colors deepen. Textures get richer. And suddenly, even 82 degrees feels a little more like fall.
But it's still hot...
We love fall as much as anyone. The warm colors, the sweaters, the boots, the promise of cooler weather. There’s just one small problem: here in Florida, it’s still hot.
Really hot.
While the rest of the country starts layering up, we approach fall a little differently. And after 131 fall seasons in Florida, we know something about dressing for that in-between moment, long before we get the first real whisper of fall.
Instead of changing everything, we make small shifts. The silhouettes stay light and easy. Prints feel a little richer. A lightweight layer comes along for dinner.
Because Florida fall isn't necessarily a change in temperature. Sometimes it's simply a change in mood.
The Great Florida Wardrobe Shift
Take the classic resort combination of navy-and-white stripes with white pants. Swap the white for dark denim or navy, and suddenly the same easy Florida silhouette feels ready for fall.
A Change in Color
In Florida, fall isn’t about heavier fabrics or more layers. It simply arrives in a deeper shade of blue, a richer floral, a touch of olive or an unexpected pop of rust. Think pumpkin spice palette with iced coffee weather.
The Florida Layer
Florida layering has less to do with the forecast and more to do with the thermostat. Swap the white 100% linen jacket from Anthony’s Resort Wear for Black or Deep Sea. It’s lightweight enough for warm afternoons and exactly what you want when the restaurant has the air conditioning set to Arctic mode.
Forever Sunshine
The sun didn’t get the fall memo. Coastal living doesn’t disappear when the calendar says fall. Neither should the clothes designed for it. UPF 50+ fabrics, easy silhouettes and lightweight styles continue straight through the season, just refreshed in deeper colors and new prints.
Sweater-ish weather.
When it’s still too warm for the real thing, reach for the short-sleeved sweater. All the cozy texture of fall, considerably less commitment. Sweater weather: *Florida terms and exclusions apply.
Still Dress Weather
Fall doesn’t mean putting away your dresses. Look for deeper colors, richer prints and silhouettes that feel just as easy in September as they did in June.
Dinner Gets a Little Dressier
The days may still feel like summer, but fall evenings invite us to dress things up just a little. Maybe it’s the earlier sunset. Maybe it’s finally comfortable enough to sit outside. Either way, fall gives us an excuse to make dinner feel a little more special.
When Fall Finally Finds Us
Then, finally, one morning... it happens. You open the door, the humidity is gone, the temperature starts with a seven, and you get to add a layer. Every Floridian knows the feeling.
Fall has finally found us.

Nice commentary about dressing for Fall. I find that when the sun is shining, dark colors can still feel hot.
