...and give you three reasons why you need one

Burnout 1

“Burnout” fabric is one of the hottest trends in women’s fashion. I discovered this while shopping for an upcoming cruise at my local Anthony’s store.

I love to travel, and I love to pack light. So when I went searching for some tops for my cruise to the Bahamas, the sales associate at Anthony’s suggested a couple beautiful “burnout” tops.

Why burnout fabric? It makes you look festive without creating bulk. It also cuts down on your need for accessories.

What is burnout? It’s a technique that gives fabric different textures by literally burning out a layer of the fabric with a chemical. The French call this process “broderie chimique” – which means “chemical embroidery.” By burning away part of a fabric, the look can mimic embroidery.

Burnout 2

Here are three reasons burnout tops are fashionable and flattering:

Tip No. 1: Burnout fabric can make you look thinner

The burnout process adds lightness and flow to a garment. It adds texture without adding weight. Light, flowing garments that skim the body make women appear slimmer.

Tip No. 2: Burnout fabric adds interest – it’s like adding sparkle but without the bulk

Why wear a plain, boring T-shirt when you can wear a burnout T-shirt and mesmerize people with your fashion style? It’s the same trick as adding a sparkling necklace – burnout attracts attention.

Tip No. 3: Burnout is so beautiful you’ll get compliments

When it comes to Florida fashion, stiffness is the opposite of style and comfort. Burnout is never stiff. It adds flow, beauty and interest to a blouse or top. Try one on at Anthony’s and you’ll see!

LOVE FLORIDA TRAVEL?

Here’s Val’s Florida vacay tip of the week: Take a sightseeing cruise

Whether I’m heading to Florida’s west coast for a sunset dinner cruise on the Marina Jack II (docked behind the Marina Jack restaurant on the Downtown Sarasota Bay) or taking a Norwegian Cruise Lines trip for a weekend in the Bahamas, I know my Anthony’s garb will be “see-worthy.” You can wear a burnout top and some pants from Anthony’s and you’ll be the belle of the deck!
