Meryl Streep is everyone's favorite over-60 actress, right?
In her new movie, "Ricki and the Flash," she plays an '80s rock star -- down to the braided hair and torn black leggings.
When I saw the trailer for this movie, I burst out laughing at her look -- it seemed downright ridiculous to see a woman of her age in clothes fit for a teenager.
Then I got to thinking...all of us can become "Resort Wear Rock Stars" if we shop at Anthony's, the leaders in Florida women's fashion since 1895!
Being a Resort Wear Rock Star means putting a pop of "wow" into your style. Maybe that's a top with a tie at the waist or an asymmetrical hem. Or big, bold accessories against a white outfit.
When I want to dress like a Resort Wear Rock Star, I head over to Anthony's and check out what's new. Here are three things I found at Anthony's women's fashion store that will give you as much flash as Ricki -- without making you look like a refugee of the 1980s:
Breezy tie-front dress by Mlle Gabrielle: This is the sexiest, breeziest dress I've put on in years, and I love the flattering fit so much, I bought it in black and yellow. It has a dramatic shark bite hem and flowing skirt that's perfect for the dance floor -- or even your own patio.
Psychedelic strapless romper by Mlle Gabrielle: If you're afraid to try on a romper, don't be! This pull-on romper is a dramatic black and white print that has an easy and flattering fit! To get the rock-star look, add a bold pendant or the braided coral necklace and earrings set by Tint and a pair of metallic sandals by Amanda or Easy Street. All at Anthony's stores and anthonysfla.com!
Abstract maxi skirt by Lola P: This bright pattern will make you feel like you're dating a Beatle. It's hip and fashionable -- AND completely age appropriate.
Catch "Ricki and the Flash" in theaters on August 7...and put some flash into your wardrobe by becoming a Resort Wear Rock Star.
All you need is a happy attitude and some Anthony's!

Val's Florida travel tip of the week: Check out Respectable Street, the longest-running nightclub in Palm Beach County. This hangout at 518 Clematis Street in West Palm Beach actually existed in the '80s, and the checkerboard dance floor will beckon you, no matter how old you are!
