Dress Party: The Best Spring Dresses for Women over 50

It's that time of year again - dress season! Even those of us that normally don't wear dresses, start eyeing the dress racks, admiring the floral prints and feminine flair designed for the spring and summer season. I am usually more of a classic pant and fun top or tee kind of a gal myself, but the chic styling and classic ease of the dress has a tendency to convert me at least for a few months a year!
Dresses can truly be in style all year round, when accessorized for fall or winter with boots, but when spring and summer roll around, dresses almost start to feel like a necessity! With upcoming spring weddings, luncheons, and holidays, we figured it was high time to take a look around the Anthony's closet for the best dresses for all your upcoming events. We specialize in fashions for women over 50 and our dresses are no different. Designed to fit and flatter from formal cocktail dress styles to floaty sundresses, there is something for everyone. We have picked out several of our favorites from the hundreds of dresses we carry made for every body type and pesky problem area.

We all need a little dress for everyday - mostly for those days when we proclaim that despite having a closet full of clothes, we simply have nothing to wear! This comfortable, stretch maxi dress is just that style. This casual dress is the epitome of throw-on-and-go chic!

One of our favorite things as buyers to seek out when shopping for the Anthony's woman are fashions with a little something extra or unexpected. This Creation dress features a lace open back detail and a little glitz and glam making it a piece of cake to dress up or down for every event on your spring calendar.

A little touch of nautical with some classic horizontal stripes is exactly what summer calls for. Whether you spend your summers in New England or on the Great Lakes, you can't go wrong with a classic stripe dress. This casual and incredibly comfortable dress from Cabana Life can double as a cover-up or can be dressed up with fun sea-inspired jewelry for the perfect backyard clambake.

The gorgeous embroidery on the breezy, yet feminine Lola P dress transports us to the gardens of Southern France. This romantic style is easy to throw on and go with a classic white sandal, but could also easily be dressed up for a garden-party wedding with a nude heel.

This classic stripe dress is our all-occasion favorite. From the seersucker summer-inspired stripes to the beautiful lace overlay to the classic shift styling, this dress is a must for your summer dress wardrobe.

Definitely stick to the 3/4 sleeve dresses if you prefer a little extra arm coverage. You can't go wrong in a bright fun print for any of your upcoming spring and summer events. Our favorite thing about all of the 3/4 sleeve dresses shown below - they all have UPF 50 sun protection to go that extra mile. Plus, they couldn't be more travel friendly or pack-able if they tried. Book that summer getaway and throw one of these dresses in your suitcase!

This dress has everything for the chic, put-together woman. This classic shift style by London Times continues to be a regular here at Anthony's. We just can't help picking up new prints in this same easy - chic style.

We love to find dresses that can truly stand out from the crowd. On this Mlle Gabrielle dress, the handkerchief hem, the bold diagonal stripe and the lightweight fabric all come together to make one stunning dress. It is perfect for all occasions from the outdoor seaside wedding to the ladies luncheon. If you are looking for a little more of a show stopper, this same style is available in an array of bright colors in a fun polka print.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your dresses I have way to many but need to be longer than 35 inches …..older women would like just above the knee …….these are way to short to wear without leggings…..

I love quite a few of the dress styles butI would prefer that they arrive to the knee or just barely above. All of these shown styles are too short for me now that I have reached 60.

A nice variety of shrugs would also be helpful to cover up our upper arm with all those beautiful sleeveless tops and dresses.

Most women my age and older do not like dresses above the knee or sleeveless or clothing that has horizontal lines that makes us look larger. Would like more simple stylish print and or floridian with virtical strips. Please and thank you

A lot of women over 50 do not have the toned arms and prefer to wear dresses with sleeves. Also dresses that are knee length. I wish you would offer more of those types of dresses.
