SPF Protection this Fourth of July
Posted on 30 June 2017
The Fourth of July is coming up, and that means outdoor barbecues, beach days, and other outdoor activities. But in order to keep these events fun, it is important to protect your skin. SPF Protection is important this Fourth of July and all year long in Florida! Those who are planning to go to the beach should be careful because water reflects up to 10 percent of the sun's rays, sand about 15 percent, and seafoam about 25 percent.
The Skin Cancer Foundation recommends using a broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF 15 or higher daily. For extended outdoor activity, use a water resistant, broad-spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
Guess what though?! Anthony's Resort Wear and IBkul have the cutest assortments of UPF sun protection sundresses and tops! Take a look:

Another festive option is a sun shirt. I've chosen this bold blue for the 4th of July, but there are so many more IBkul sun shirts at Anthony's. IBkul sun shirts are known for their moisture-wicking fabric that keeps you cool on even the hottest days. With the Florida humidity, that is an extremely important factor! This IBkul sun shirt has UPF50 sun protection built in, so you can stay confidently covered. Featuring a mesh sleeve for additional airflow and Icefil fabric this top is made for stylish fun in the sun.
So, there you have it. Cute dresses and tops with SPF protection to preserve your skin! Here are a few other tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation to protect yourself from the sun this Fourth of July:
-Stay in shade - especially between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
-Do not get burnt
-Avoid tanning booths
-Cover up with SPF/UPF clothing (from Anthony's Resort Wear and IBkul) - including a broad-brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses
-Use a broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. (For extended outdoor activity, use a water-resistant, broad spectrum (UVA/UVB) sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.)
-Apply sunscreen thirty minutes before going outside. (Reapply every two hours or after swimming or sweating.)
-Examine your skin head-to-toe every month.
-See your doctor every year for a professional skin exam.
Have a happy Fourth of July! Don't forget to protect your skin and have some fun!
