About Spanx
Founded in the year 2000 by the now world-renowned businesswoman and philanthropist Sara Blakely, the idea for Spanx was realized a couple of years prior in 1998 when Sara created a slimming undergarment to wear underneath a cream-colored pant for a party she was attending. She took a pair of scissors to some control-top pantyhose and the rest is history- or herstory as Spanx calls it. In the twenty-plus years since its inception, Spanx has been at the forefront of innovations in shapewear, through helping women look their best is not the company’s only point of pride: Spanx donates a portion of its profits to charitable causes around the globe that focus on uplifting women through art, education, and business opportunities. Their goal is to “make the world a better place, one butt at a time!”
