Val's view: Meet the colorful Kristin Crenshaw!

(Yes! Florida's favorite and most flattering pant is now in exclusive colors and patterns)

Sometimes, you pull on a pair of pants and a miracle happens: You look 10 pounds thinner, and you can move and stretch like you did 10 years ago.

That's how I felt when I tried on my Kristins – the Kristin Crenshaw ankle pants now sold in a candy box of colors at Anthony's, the experts in women's fashion.

These are the potato chips of pants – you can't buy just one.

I looked and felt so good in my Kristins when I first discovered them that I immediately stocked up, buying two pairs in black, two in white and a denim pair, too. They're so versatile and work with all my tops. I thought my style life could not get any better...until...

...Anthony's started offering Kristins in a bunch of colors and patterns! Seafoam, lime, cornflower blue, python print and swirls. My hubby Marv had to clean out his side of the closet so I could squeeze them all in.

I now own so many Kristins that Marv thinks I should start a recovery group for women who are addicted to these pants.

Why do I love them?

Flattering fit! Let's face it, fit is the crucial factor for pants. Kristins fit close to the body but never tight. The rise comes up to the natural waist, so there is never any muffin top. The waist band is wide, which also helps hold me in, and the waistband never rolls over or down. The rise in the back of the pants is 4 inches higher than the rise in front. This is crucial for a flattering fit. The ankle length (28-inch inseam) is the most flattering length, because it shows a tiny bit of skin at the ankle, and this balances the whole look. I swear, I look 10 pounds thinner in these pants.

Fabulous fabric! Kristins are made of a miracle fabric called Bengaline, made of 79 percent rayon, 18 percent nylon and 3 percent Spandex. The fabric stretches in all directions and is easy care, too. Just machine wash and line dry. (I "snap" my pants like a towel before I hang them to dry, to remove the wrinkles created in the machine. Works like a charm.) This is a pull-on pant that looks refined. If you like to go on vacation with just a carry-on, Kristins will become your go-to pants.

Florida favorite! What's the first rule of Florida style? Comfort! We must feel comfortable in our clothes to enjoy our paradise. Kristins are as comfy as sweatpants or leggings...yet, they are tailored enough to wear to work, church or cocktail party. Now that they come in a rainbow of colors and patterns, I may never take mine off.

Val's date-night tip of the week: Get flirty and dotty!

These pants manage to be fun AND classy, so I requested that Marv take me out on a date to a fun and classy place. We tried Jereve, a creative eatery located in the newly opened EmKo multi-use art space on South Dixie Highway, in the Flamingo Park neighborhood of West Palm Beach. Serving appropriately artistic dishes, the restaurant is the centerpiece of EmKo's "culinary art gallery," which includes a specialty market (The Market), a coffee shop (Untitled Coffee & Juice Bar), and a soon-to-open bakery (Back Alley Bakery). It's so cool, we thought we were in Greenwich Village.
